One of the most desirable forms of Full Moon Maple with cutleaf foliage on a strongly structured, small tree. The habit is upright but quite spreading, giving a very Oriental feel. Fall color is usually a flaming red, making it a standout in the landscape. Less heat tolerant than the palmatum cultivars, but tolerates quite a bit of shade and still produces reliable fall color.

The name Aconitifolium comes from the Monkhood genus Aconitum, which its foliage resembles.
