Carex buchananii

Leatherleaf Sedge

An unusual color in the plant family, this evergreen grass sports rich brown foliage with a slight reddish cast. The foliage is the same color as brown leather, hence the common name, Leatherleaf Sedge. Clump forming grass from New Zealand likes sunny locations that are well drained but moist. Great color contrast to silvers and blues in the perennial garden.
