Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum'

Golden Full Moon Maple

The Golden Full Moon Maple is a highly sought after variety. Leaves are large, rounded, and cupped upward. They emerge soft lemon yellow, changing to dark gold as they age. As fall arrives, the tips of the leaves turn scarlet red, leaving a gold "moon" in the center. This is not a vigorous plant, best grown in partial shade or containers where it can get the special care it needs to thrive. Slowly forms a broad small specimen tree to 12 feet tall.

Plant this tree next to dark green or blue conifers where the golden foliage will contrast nicely. Special attention to light and water needs is essential for optimum growth. Formerly known as Acer japonicum 'Aureum'.
